Winged Things

Remember when we sat
Waiting for six legged and
Two-pair-winged friends
To land on the rose shrub’s  flowers?
And we whispered soft enough
To deceive the ticking hours?
About nothing particktockular.
With a dangling binocular.
Below our noses, above a grin.
You silly thing.
Your words left roses on my skin.
